I am an experienced psychodynamic therapist working in Dalston, East London and online. I specialise in working with people who are trans, queer, and who have other non-normative experiences of sex and gender.
I have a reflective, curious and warm presence. My way of working is psychodynamic, which means I’m interested in how the past shapes the present, and the ways we can find ourselves stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking and relating. I’ll pay close attention to themes and images that emerge in our conversations; to how your feelings show up in your body; and to your dreams and imagination.
I understand that we are shaped not only by our families and close relationships, but also by our lived experiences of structural violences like white supremacy, ableism, classism, transphobia and queerphobia. Over time, these experiences can lead us to edit out parts of ourselves and our stories in order to feel safe. In our sessions, we can work together to create a space for those parts of yourself that you’re used to keeping hidden, and parts of yourself that are seeking refuge. Through this work, you may begin to feel more whole.
I aim to build relationships with my clients that feel collaborative, creative, and playful. Therapy might become a place where we daydream together.
My role is to help you uncover the knowledge that you carry. In coming to new understandings of how you came to be who you are, it can become possible to recover a sense of choice and freedom in the way that you move through the world.
